Forget Heritage project was presented as a Local Info Day on the 22nd May 2019 at Pécs, Hungary. The event was held at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Pécs- Baranya, where several events were joined together. Besides the Forget Heritage Interreg CE project, there was another project presented, name of Cult-CreaTe project (Interreg Europe), which focused on creative tourism. In addition to presenting the two projects, there was a book presentation, which was the University of Pécs new international cookbook.

At the presentation of Forget Heritage, Ms. Judit Medvey talked about the following points:

Successful models and solutions
Introducing the Forget Heritage project
Heritage management in practice - results of the project pilot actions
OffSpace application to involve locals
National examples and objectives

The event was successfully completed, various contacts were connected, and the project was interesting for the participants.

Municipalities are for keeping or increasing the quality of life, retain the young and serve the local society. Abandoned iconic buildings and sites are more than signs of change of time. These are challenges for municipalities now. Interregional cooperation could help to find good practices, develop common solutions, test ideas and suggest models.

Heritage Alive public conference gathered those European projects which aim  to find solution for the challenge of cultural heritage management.

Forget Heritage project has developed a policy handbook for citizens' involvement, a management manual with trainings and an application (OffSpace) to help municipalities in their problem solution. The management package is tested in eight pilot actions  involving CCI-s and a final recommendation will be promoted as a result of the project. 

REFREsh is also an Interreg CE project.  The consortia elaborates models to integrate creative and cultural activities (incl. enterprises and productive activities) in historic former productive abandoned buildings, involving local communities. 

YouInHerit (Interreg CE project) concentrates on the young. The consortia develops models to youth involvement in the innovative valorisation and revival of traditional trades and crafts as cultural heritage to make urban regions more attractive and competitive in a dynamic age.

Open Heritage is a Horizon2020 project with a more financial approach. OpenHeritage promotes the re-use of neglected, non-touristic heritage sites by building heritage communities around them. The project creates sustainable financing, business and governance models to support maintenance of the sites. These models involve new ways of community involvement, emphasize resource integration and embed the re-use in a broader territorial scale.

Heritage Alive conference allowed participants to compare the goals and methods, find connection points between the projects and establish cooperation in project capitalisation in the close future.

The artwork is born before our eyes

How is a contemporary painting made? What can you see in the process of artistic creation - unknown to the lay audience? The M21 Gallery of the Zsolnay Cultural Quarter in Pécs is the venue for the Symphony IX - Figurative Symposium, in which eight artists prepare large, figurative creations before the eyes of visitors. The symposium will take place between January 21st and February 5th, and the works will be on display at the February 8th exhibition with other previous Workshops.

The Synergy Symposium has a long tradition and was first held in the 2006/2007 academic year as a course at the University of Pécs, Faculty of Arts, at the Zsolnay factory's unused internal industrial spaces. The initiative was initiated by Ilona Keserü, professor Emerita, the aim of the course was to design, implement and exhibit colorful works on a scale larger than flat, with the use of flat or spatial painting technologies.

In addition to the second Choir, in addition to the PhD students and the Department of Painting, the invited Hungarian and foreign invited artists also participated in the course-creative event.

The power of huge industrial spaces, large image-carrying surfaces and the community of artists in one space provided the ideal conditions for the participants. The artists responded with the best of their knowledge and new, unknown painting possibilities, brave, occasionally reckless experiments, sometimes in a staggering way for themselves.

This year's theme is figurative representation. In recent decades, figurative painting has become an international and domestic focus. Although many people used to visualize the death of painting, it did not happen, but on the contrary, it managed to renew itself by the turn of the millennium. In this redefinition, he played a leading role in the experiments of figural painting. (A good example of this is the rise of Leipzig and Cluj school and its impact to date.) Nowadays, figural painting has strengthened its position in the art discourse, and has won the honor of continuous activity.

The m21 Gallery is the ideal venue for the symposium, as it has large interiors of industrial real estate, but it is much more comfortable and offers interactivity to meet the artist and the audience at work. ZSÖK was happy to provide the venue for this business.

CICC Association and our co-working office organised the KOHÓ Christmas Party again, to the co-workers. That was a great happening to finish the year. Besides the familiar gifting, the event ended with an exciting KOHÓPoly boardgame.

Iconic building abandoned in the heart of the city. Left alone, its hollow windows whisper the memories of better days, when it’s rooms were filled with joy and laughter, in turn adding to the athmosphere of the square outside.The timeless memories of local people prevent these sites from dissapearing and nominate them to be a heritage.The 24th January 2019 conference described in the attached invitation might not only find a solution by valuable examples, but also provides a rich repertoire of methods owing to the good offices of  EU’s Forget Heritage project. Cultural Creative Industry Cluster's team would like to wish you a Happy Saint Nicholas day! Let's celebrate!

We are happy to inform everyone that the Creative Industry Cluster has been awarded the BRONZ certification in the European accreditation system, which has been officially recognized.

The European Cluster Excellence Initiative, DG Enterprise and Industry co-funded by the project, has produced the quality indicators developed by the European Commission and has been recognized as an internationally renowned quality brand. Our members of the cluster can use the rating as well, they can be displayed on their online and offline contacts.
Strengthening the excellence of the cluster, the European Cluster Excellence Initiative (ECEI), the European Cluster Excellence Initiative (ECEI), was launched in 2009 as part of the EU's efforts to create world-class clusters.

Clusters are complex and dynamic structures that are subject to continuous change. Strong clusters can promote economic growth through leveraging the innovation and business potential of a region. New employment opportunities, new products and services, new companies, new R&D activities and new patents can be the result of activities within a cluster. A professional cluster management can contribute to such a development through projects and services that tap into the cluster's potential. The European Cluster Excellence Initiative, initiated by the European Commission DG Enterprise and Industry, developed methodologies and tools to support cluster organisations to improve their capacities and capabilities in the management of clusters and networks. Being members of the European Cluster Excellence Initiative 13 project partners from nine European countries - all well experienced in the field of cluster management and support - created a uniform set of cluster management quality indicators and developed a quality labeling system for professional cluster management with the aim to get this methodology and proof of quality accepted all over Europe.

In this context ESCA offers services in two areas:

1. ESCA promotes cluster management excellence through benchmarking and quality labelling of clusters and cluster management organizations. ESCA has been mandated by the European Cluster Excellence Initiative (ECEI) to organise the assessment process.
2. ESCA supports cluster policymakers and programme owners with advice on cluster programme development.

A two-year ICCI project was closed, which was held in Gersen Kirchen in September 2018. The ICCI platform is part of the project that aims to train Creative and Cultural Entrepreneurs and their intermediaries on internationalisation, especially for:

artists interested in understanding how to promote their work in international networks

cultural organizations interested in understanding how to develop projects with other entities from Europe

creative companies interested in understanding how to search for new markets and new clients in Europe and how to sell their products/services

intermediary organizations working to support the Creative and Cultural sector in general or specifically in internationalization processes.

The O4B businessman's meeting was organized during the DesignPécs event series, where the Enterprise Europe Network event was hosted, which was presented at the building of KOHO.

At the conference, the Creative Industry Cluster was given the opportunity to present the Forget Heritage project, which generated a lot of interest from the Enterprise Europe Network. They are curiously awaiting the end of the project, which will be manifested in web application.

The 2018 DesignPécs again provided a great opportunity for cooperation between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Pécs-Baranya and the Creative Industry Cluster. In addition to organizing the series of events, the partners cooperating in the organization also participated in the organization of the entrepreneurial exhibition, thus helping individual entrepreneurs and smaller, emerging companies.

The private opening ceremony of the event was a very exciting and diverse series of programs. We have seen various fashion shows in the design of Sugarbird Pécs, Reserved, Vermes Style, Amella BaG and Hanna Cserkúthy, and an interesting street t-shirt printing by Bolko Design. The event was hosted by the Nana bistro & bar, and the delicious cake tasting was the responsibility from Trüffel Confectionery Pécs.
